Thursday was chicken day!

Our four lovely girls arrived about tea-time after a drive down from the city. These are chickens with education!

They have been part of a behavioural study at the Vet school and are now being re-homed. There are two from two different groups and all are really tame.

We are still getting used to them pecking our shoes, undoing our shoelaces, eyeing up the jewellery, eyeing up the cat (yes, he did slink away but worth a try…)

Boy! Can they poop? Still in a temporary enclosure until I’m confident they can free range and remember to come home. Hubby was delighted to have a fresh egg for breakfast and we get four lovely brown eggs daily.

We’ve been here two years and never seen a fox – until now… I guess getting chickens is just a way of announcing, “Snack bars open!” Really hope he doesn’t come calling  too soon.
