Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party”

Robin Williams

Feeling like Mark Twain in observing the changeable weather; warmth, cold, sunshine, rain, mist, clear skies… The returning bees bring a sound track of energetic buzzing to the garden. Daily tasks include planting out the vegetables, potting on the seedlings while remembering to open the greenhouse before things get cooked!

A skein of wild geese stretched out against the blue sky heads north, some mallards have investigated the little burn. Chaffinches, goldfinches and greenfinches are busy gathering nesting materials. Blackbirds feasting on the slugs and snails while the shy thrush hunts beneath the hedges.

The plants arrayed in new clothes look splendid! Even Dog’s Mercury looks pretty. Surprised by new plants which randomly appear and their remarkable colouring… So better stop procrastinating and get the tools out…

“One swallow does not make a summer, but one skein of geese, cleaving the murk of March thaw, is the Spring”

Aldo Leopold
